Royal Ascot Dress Ideas for the Royal Enclosure

Fashion

The Royal Enclosure has even more strict rules for dress code than the general course areas. Embarrass yourself at the gate with an inappropriate outfit and you could ruin your day at Royal Ascot.

Check Your Necklines and Straps

No strapless, off-the-shoulder or halter necks are allowed in the Royal Enclosure. A dress with sleeves or very wide straps is the obvious choice but if you opt for a sleeveless design, wear with a jacket or bolero.

Get the Hemline Right

A midi is probably the best option as it is below the knee and is a very suitable length for Royal Ascot outfits.

Pick Colour and Pattern Confidently

Stick to solid colours like deep navy, sage, coral or champagne if you want to choose a coloured dress for Royal Ascot. If you do choose to wear a patterned dress then make sure it is a structured print or check. Avoid very casual and busy prints.

Wear a Proper Hat or Headpiece

A hat with a brim of four inches or more is required or an alternative headpiece of solid base. Fascinator clips and bands alone do not meet the dress code for the Royal Enclosure.

Sort Your Outerwear in Advance

A tailored blazer or coat will keep you dressed up should the weather turn but is something that can be worn throughout the day and can be a second piece to your dress, worn and then removed throughout the day.

Keep Accessories Neat

A small structured handbag, simple high heels and simple jewellery complete the look for the Royal Enclosure. For Royal Ascot Outfits, see https://www.aimeejoycelondon.com/ready-to-wear/elegant-dresses-for-ascot/.

A little preparation makes the day so much more enjoyable!
