Here are some very simple facts about how our heart works.

The heart is made up of two sides, the right and the left. The right side of the heart receives blood that is low in oxygen from your veins and this is then pumped to your lungs where it receives oxygen and loses carbon dioxide before being pumped back to the heart. The left part of your heart receives the oxygenated blood from your lungs and pumps those out of your arteries around the body.
