  1. Use cloth nappies. These are reusable nappies that you wash. They are definitely more messy, and require a lot of washing, but once you get used to it, it is not so hard. There are cloth nappy schemes that give you a discount on certain brands in some counties so ask your health visitor what’s available in your area. Make sure to use biodegradable, but even better reusable wipes as well. You can wash them along with the cloth nappies.
  2. Only buy or use second-hand clothes or toys for your child. Avoid buying plastic toys. You can specifically ask people not to buy your child any plastic toys. This not only prevents the possibility that you will add to the already toxic and overflowing plastic waste already on the earth but is also healthier for your child. Look into Montessori play and you will find out why toys made of natural materials with neutral colours, and non-specific uses, will help your child use their imagination.

  1. Don’t throw old clothes away, recycle them by turning them into cloth to clean up any mess your child makes.
  2. Lastly, use plastic free products like a Bamboo Toothbrush from https://bambooth.com/, and refill your laundry liquid and washing up liquid at your local refilling store.
