Industries that need staff DBS checks

Business

There are some areas of work in Britain where there is a need for a Disclosure and Barring Service check. This is shortened to the acronym of the DBS check. There are many industries where you have to have one to work. There is an excellent reason for this. When working with children or the vulnerable the scope for people to be defrauded and abused is greatly enhanced. It’s also why systems like KNOW YOUR CUSTOMER are put in place to make sure that everyone is registered and recognised. Such systems, like the one from w2, are becoming more and more commonplace. Which areas of industry require this check?

Two types of DBS checks occur. Depending on the situation and the people you are going to be dealing with, there are two types of assessment. These are standard and advanced. For example, if you’ve been successful at the interview stage and are preparing to work, the employer will tell you the level that they are going to run on you.

These checks are dependent on the role you are going to perform. For the most part, teachers, childminders, those who work in foster care and professionals in the field of medicine. Therefore, it’s evident that anyone working in a School, Hospital and children’s home will also be required to have an enhanced check completed.

Other areas that need a check are Vets, Solicitors, Accountants and barristers, given the level of responsibility they have in the legal and financial world.
